Welcome!

Hi. I am applying for the Caretaker of the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef ("Best Job in the World", Tourism Queensland's Island Reef Job) and this page is to provide further information about myself, my family, and my qualifications. See also my blog, We Walk Softly, for more on my family's adventures in nature.

Rate My Video, Please!

Well, I've posted my video for the Island Reef Job and it's finally been accepted.

I'd really appreciate it if you could watch my video and rate it. A high rating may increase my chances of getting the job. You only have one chance to vote, so click only once on the appropriate star! To rate my video, follow the link below and click on the, ahem, 5th star to the right of the video (see image below), thus giving me a 5-star rating!

http://www.islandreefjob.com/#/applicants/watch/filCW1FjpwA.

You can vote multiple times but I think only once per login per computer. I don't know how long you have to vote before they lock the video, but it looks like we have at least a day or two.

Thanks so much for your time -- it's been nice reconnecting with many of you. I'm happy to know that I have such wonderful friends (and family) who will still talk to me after so many years of neglect.

I'll let you all know how it turns out. We're not too optimistic about our chances, but it's been a fun process and I'm glad to have brought all of you along with us.

My Video Application

Here's my video application for the Island Reef Job. Enjoy!

Musical Credits
The music for my video application was written by Mike Lemmo and was performed by Mike and Jon Nellen, two students at my school. (Jon also produced the work.) Mike and Jon graciously gave me permission to use their original work in my video and I think it fits the mood perfectly. Thanks, guys! You can see what Mike is up to at http://www.youtube.com/user/mikelemmo.

My 60-second video application for the Island Reef Job goes by too quickly. So here's another version of the video that has a more relaxed feel, but was too long to submit to Tourism Queensland. Enjoy!

Mike and Jon can't credit for the ABBA tune ("Take a Chance on Me") that plays along with this video.
